The University of Florida Health Cancer Center blends comprehensive patient care and innovative research in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. In 2023, the center became the 72nd NCI-designated cancer center and the only one based at a public university in the state of Florida.

CHEER is a central hub for research and community engagement activities that focus on improving equity, especially among underserved populations. The center aligns with UF Health’s strategic priority to facilitate research that leads to greater health equity. Pastor Gerard Duncan
Pastor Gerard Duncan is a State of Florida President of the Senate Appointee. He’s the Senior Pastor of Prayers By Faith Ministries in Gainesville and President of Innovative Dads Inc. Pastor Duncan is an entrepreneur and civic engagement advocate for children and families, and is passionate about the wellbeing of Alachua County’s communities and families. Pastor Duncan, through his church community outreach, helps bridge the gap between organizations with resources and community families.

The College of Medicine, the largest of six colleges at the University of Florida Academic Health Center, opened in 1956 with a mission to increase Florida’s supply of highly qualified physicians, provide advanced health care services to the residents of Florida and foster discovery in health research. COHORTS collaborates with COM departments and faculty with similar missions, including the Department of Community Health & Family Medicine.
